How to replace the belt in a seat belt

No I am not talking about unbolting one and bolting one back in.
My belts are shot. I went to the junkyard today and picked up some that were the color I wanted, But they are not a straight bolt up from the XJ I got them out of to the YJ I want to put them in.
So what I want to do is actually take the whole thing apart and swap the good belt in to the the mechanism that fits my YJ.
Has anyone tried this with any success??
Here is a pic of my shot belt
