Well I got the Softopper installed. I used my hard doors to adjust the surrounds that came with the top. They sealed up really nicely. I haven't had time to mess with the Smittybilt uppers...I'm in the middle of roofing my house! It's a metal roof and is a little slower than asphalt!!!

Very happy with the the top.
Attachment 466728

The corners are a little loose but there's no way to tighten them up. Probably needs the track to wrap the corner.
Attachment 466729

Attachment 466730

Metal roof...REALLY NICE STUFF! It looks just like slate and has a Lifetime Warranty for the original owner...and it's transferable too.
Attachment 466731

Flashing the dormers is slow going. If it wasn't for this roofing project the Jeep would have had the axles swapped by now!

Waiting to see how this turns out. I have a Sunrider soft top and a standard hard top. My full doors fit both but no uppers for the half doors.

Do the tj upper have the channel for the bottom of the skin built into them? I have a 87 so mine originally had buttons to hold the bottom of the skin?

TJs have a flat metal bar accross the bottom if the upper and a seal built into the skin. You have to remove the belt From the lower door. In your case, you will have to remove the snaps if they are in the way. I haven't seen what you have before. Are the snaps on the flat main panel of the lower, or the beveled over top. See post 3 for a good set of pictures

For any of you that have done this... would it be viable to do with the rear pin cut off for a Winter? I may not have access to a welder for a while, and just picked up a hard top cheap. I'd love to run it with my half doors this Winter.

I see all these posts are for people running the TJ uppers with a hardtop. Do any of you run them with a soft top? I'm looking for a set of uppers to work with my Supertop, and can't find anything YJ specific locally, but can find plenty of TJ uppers. Any of you guys have experience with this setup?

Round, it's a Supertop.

I know they'll fit dimensionally, I just wanted to know if anyone had actually run this setup to see how they seal against the Supertop frame.

I finally got around to getting the TJ uppers I scored mounted. The short answer to my previous question is, they don't fit very well due to the Supertops frame design.

The following pic is from the drivers side rear of the window and you can see the gap it leaves:

I could probably tweak the frames, add some extra weatherstripping, etc, but at the end of the day, the fit is garbage. I'll be looking to either get actual YJ uppers or trading my Supertop for a hardtop.

I got the uppers to fit snug on the Supertop today. I had to switch the vertical rod supports around so the uppers wouldn't hit them and would allow my doors to close all the way. After swapping them and "tweaking" the rods (pulled on them with all my might), the doors seal up nicely all the way around.

^The upper frame was hitting the flat part and not allowing the door to shut completely. After swapping them around, it shuts all the way.

Now I just need to cut/weld the rear pin so I can do final adjustments and put the door panels back on, then order some black skins.

Here's how it is currently installed:

Sorry to hijack/bump this again, but I figured this would be helpful info for someone in the future.

I also got the TJ uppers to work with my half doors and hard top. I had to pull the spreader bar in to the minimum distance to slide the top rearward, but it works. Added some sticky weatherstripping, and I'm golden. Thanks for this thread guys!
