How Do You Fix A Broken Turn Signal/wiper Lever

Is there anyway to fix a broken turn signal/wiper lever.I hit it with my knee and it broke clean off.I guess the metal piece on the inside has to turn for the wipers to work.I thought maybe crazy glue but thought I would toss it out to you guys first.

depends... if you didn't break any part of the switch then sure... if the metal is stuck in the switch like mine was then that sucks i had to take apart the whole thing to get the switch out to.. it takes a while to do and a lot of patents.... because i didn't have wipers, rain ex was my friend for a while

My metal rod broke, but I can still put it back in and get my blinkers to work, but not my wipers.I think the metal rod has to turn for my wiper to work.

Go to autozone and rent the steering wheel puller and lock ring depressor. $30 but you get that money back when your done. Now follow this writeup and you can get to you switch and be back togeather in an hour or so. http://www.epiccomputer.com/dale/jee...tilt/tilt.html Yes that is for a CJ but it is the same GM column.

Your gonna need to get a new lever. dealer can do it for less than $20 ( I think) or go to a bone yard.

Ok but at least check the link that I posted. It is not that hard. And with the rented pullers the wheel and lock ring literally come off in about 2 min.

i broke mine off one night when i was mad and i changed mine this past week actually. i took the turn signal switches and the shroud piece off and the actual lever is just pushed in there. after you take the column apart you can use a punch and just push it out. ohh and a little L shaped piece of plastic will probley fall out, but this kinda sits over the little metal rod thing. this will probably make more sense once you take it apart.

I used a small self tapping screw on the piece that was inside the sterring column and yanked it out with a pair of pliers. I have a 91 yj and bought the lener from the dealer for aroung $20. and pushed right in there. I dont know if it the same for a cj or not. good luck

Lever must be in off position,so a screw extractor won't work.A self tapping sheet metal screw is the way to go.If you've got the lever in the right position it'll pop right out...

I just broke mine a month ago! Is there a part # for the lever? I have an 87 YJ... and I am planning on placing a new turn signal lever/with windshield controls.
