How do you adjust throttle link on 88 YJ?

Hello folks. I just did the 'ol Carter to MC2100 swap and am more than pleased with the upgrade. the only problem I have to correct now is, that I have no power in first gear, and it takes forever to shift into second. Question is: how do I adjust the throttle so my baby will shift properly. The pedal has more slack than I care for. And is this the throttle link I should be adjusting? And how, please? Thanks
