I also suggest soldering the connections, but at least it's in a somewhat accessible spot. Butt splicers; working 100% of the time, 50% of the time.

I like the LED lights and I'm considering doing them myself, great right up.

Did you ever do a write up on the installation of the side markers and reverse lights? Thanks

Here are my side marker lights. Military NOS.

I plan on doing the LED upgrade (thanks for the write up) for the build to help make it look old school w/the OD/black etc.

Question, when doing the LED and the upgraded flasher, will the stock bulbs still work, or do I need to change out the bulb. If so then what bulb would fit? I see the ones at AZone but they look long for the front housing.

Thanks,
Jim

I just looked at the Scrambler and the top bolt for the stock light protrudes into the bed of the Jeep.

Just above that bend or shelf is where the top bolt comes out. I could go in that space (would have to measure to make sure) but then the wires will be in the bed.

See the left/right side/top hole where the light is shining through. That is just inside the bed and the housing is right there. I guess my only option is to get the ones that mount on the outside.

Have you considered using a side mount gas filler (like the '97-'06 TJ) and then mounting the LED lights lower? I'm just throwing an idea out there.

Thanks for the idea, but I can't bring myself to do that.

Maybe I can find some exterior ones that are thin and not 180 bucks.

I understand.

I guess I should avoid ever owning a rare, or older Jeep in excellent condition. I have no reservations in carving one up like a Thanksgiving turkey, which is fine for Jeep models that are plentiful, or ones in questionable condition. The problem is with me, I could roll a "one-of-a-kind" Jeep out of a museum & go at it in the parking lot with a plasma cutter. Comp cuts, boatsides, hi-line fenders, etc.
