Hooking up aftermarket horn to '94 YJ. . .OEM horn wiring diagram???
The horn wiring circuit is not in the service manuals. . .and I'm trying to hook an aftermarket horn up on my '94 YJ. . .should be really straight forward except for the air compressor for the horn doesn't get enough power using the OEM hook-up (ground and switched 12V+). . .so I have to hook it up to the YJ using the relay that came with the horn. . .but I don't want a second horn switch. . .I want to use the stock horn switch.
I'm supposed to hook the compressor negative to chassis ground (done), hook the compressor positive up to relay post #87 (done), hook relay post #86 to relay post #30 along with running a wire from post #30 to the battery with an inline 20A fuse, and finally hook relay post #85 to the provided horn switch. . .and then ground the horn switch . . .so if I wanna hook this up to my stock horn switch what do I need to do??? I know that the stock horn uses a 10A fuse located in the power distribution center behind the battery. . .other than that I'm not sure because I don't have a wiring diagram of what is going on. . . . . .does the stock horn switch have a separate ground like the aftermarket switch or does it use the gound that the OEM horn uses. . .if it uses a separate ground then I'm good there and I can keep it that way. . .which would lead me to believe that I could hook the OEM 12V wire from the horn up to Relay post #85 and either run a wire to the battery with the inline 20A fuse or I just need to replace the stock OEM 10A fuse with a 20A and all should be good. . .right?

Ok, here is a breakdown of what I did for mine.
pin 30 12V power from batt, fused 20 amps. pin 85 ground (I actually used the relay mount screw as my ground for the pump and relay) pin 87 to compressor pin 86 Stock horn wire That is all you need to do. ![]()

Wow that is high pitched. Better than the stock one I guess.
Sure wish I had an old Willy in any of it's forms so I could put in an Aoooga horn. ![]()

RustyWrangler. . .thanks for posting. . .that's what I was planning on doing, but I just wanted to make sure before I did it since I didn't have a wiring diagram with a complete horn circuit on it.

It's pretty goofy sounding, especially in a lifted Jeep, but it is loud as hell, which is a good thing, except when the horn button sticks and you have to jump out and pull the positive wire off of the compressor.

mine was $40 at 4wd hardware, you could probably find it cheaper though.

Hey Rustry Wrangler - thanks for the nice, simple write up. You confirmed what I was going to do. However, I'm going old timey with an Ahooogggaaah horn. See:
