Hood Insulation

Question Do I need the Insulation attach under my hood or can I take them off completely? Forget I found my ans.

A side note, that hood insulation is actually a fire blanket. If you have an engine fire, the heat will melt the plastic pins that hold the blanket to the hood. The blanket will then fall down across the engine to help smother the fire. It has other purposes as well, but thats the important one.

IIRC, I've owned 5 YJs. I've never seen one with hood insulation.

hmm i have a 95 and it did and doesnt have it. but, i would like to know where i can get some i bet it absorbs a good amount of heat and keeps the hood paint fresh(er)

I have not yet determined what packages included it but most cold weather climate rigs from '87-'90 had em as well as about every 5th one off the line.

Base, Larado, etc didn't make a difference. It may have been an option when purchasing.

That is part of what I do not know about it. I learned that little tid bit from a friend who's dad worked on the line from '87-'93.
