go to lowe's plumbing dept, get creative... you'll spend $60 or so on everything including all couplers, hole saw or jig saw, piping, clamps, grommets, filter, etc by the time you find deals on everything...

or spend $250 on a bolt on snorkel that looks great, fits great, and will take you less than an hour to install as opposed to the day you'll spend moaking one

my opinion.... not worth the time to make one when you can buy one that works great for not all that much money.

-Erik <---- made one for my friend's grand cherokee... it worked great, but looked too homemade

How come you want a snorkle? Are you going to be forging deep water often? I personally, I would save my $300 (that is if your going to buy one). I would focus more on "water-proofing" your jeep. Many do not do this, get all jacked up in water, and don't know why. They assumed they were okay because they had a snorkel.

Try to get some dielectric grease and cover any exposed electrical contacts including the bottom of your distributor cap, in the boots of your plugs, etc. I hear vaseline does the same exact thing, but I've yet to try it. I'm pretty sure its true though.

If you are set on getting a snokel save some money and do it yourself, it really isn't too hard. Some good examples can be found by doing a search on the entire forum. Honestly, it doesn't matter if the snorkel idea is from an XJ, TJ, etc., you can use the same principals ya know?

I know there was a set up that I'm going to do that envolved cutting a hole through the firewall into the cowl vent area having a filter in there and a tube coming from the filter into the tb. Put a scoop on it and you have ram air. Everything you need is in a cheap 91-94 (i think) civic cai kit.

A snorkel has other benefits besides water crossings. out here we have issues with dust. the dust will clog an air filter in no time. by using a snorkel, you keep the air intake up higher, this helps cut down on the amount of dust getting sucked into the filter so it clogs less

quick question... explain more about water proofing. I have a small sub box and amp in the rear and I'm afraid it will get shorted or spark if its too wet. other then complete enclosures, what should I do for things like that?

im wanting the arb snorkel mostly for the look..... but another reason i want to get one is just like green said, to help out with dust and they can get better air to ur airbox sometimes giving alittle extra power.

LUKSI----all u need to do is put grease, or vasoline, over all of ur exposed electrical connections, and around the base of ur distributer cap. it should work for ur amp and subs also. well at least the connections i don't know how "waterproof" ur subs and amp are.
