you wont need the vac lines if you do the mod. make sure you block off the line from the engine so you have no leaks

so how is 4wd not working? how did you test it? the ds wont spin by hand when its in 4wd and the collar slid over both axle splines. from what you stated it should be working.

i just have stock 4.10 gears. I ran the cable to the fork and tested to make sure it pulled all the way over and then made sure the fork was over the collar. I am going to try again and see what i can do

So, I am getting ready to do the mod and manage to shear off the top left 1/4 in cover bolt. Nearly half way corroded in two. So I dremmel out a dimple to assist in extraction and a$$ up the bolt hole real bad when time to drill. So I had planned a future front end upgrade but not that soon. Will three good (new) bolts and high temp gasket maker do the trick? I may even drill out all the slag, fill with wireweld and re tap a new hole. Unless everyone thinks the 3 bolt idea will be jiggy.

1st post. Yeah I've been cruising the board for a while now just trying to absorb as much knowledge as I can. I tried Aurora's way and looked over bigsquat's post too. Seems I may have a problem with the actuator. It's not letting me pull the fork to slide the collar. Vacuum isn't hooked up to the actuator at all, so I'm going to go Bigsquat style. Just answer me this question.

Bigsquat- When you put the plumbing cap on there, how much did you cut off of the shaft? What I initially did was remove the C clip that kept it in the 2wd position. When I pulled the cabled it would slide a couple of times before the lip of the fork hit grove where the C clip recession is. Hence, improper fluent motion. No luck with it installed either. Or how do you take apart the 4wd actuator or "flying saucer" to remove the diaphragm? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

BTW nice boards.

How does the cable stay in place when you pull it? Do you just pull it to engauge it then give it a little push to disengauge it?

It's a twist lock style choke cable. With a spring to assist the disengagement of the fork.

I hope so too. I'm gonna go threw your build thread and see what other goodies I can come up with. Right now, I'm stuck on the, "I made a _____ for my YJ!" thread. Awesome ideas. I just wish I had access to a metal shop.

I made my posilock a few months ago, and it works pretty good. A little hard to engage, and sometimes it doesnt dissengage right away, but its a whole lot better than what I had before (no 4x4 at all)
