Holley Carb on a 258

So I've been talking to a guy I know that has the same yj as me and he has installed a holley carburator on it...he says that he loves it but I've pretty much only seen webers and mc2100s used on here. And when I went on to holley's website I couldn't even find one by searching by make/model. Has anyone used a holley on their 258? If so what model was it??

The 3200 series works with an adapter plate(needed for weber and 2100 also)

However....

My experience is exactly opposite of your buddies, I have a 650 CFM 3200 Holley and absolutely hate it. Have since I put it on. Their quality is not what it used to be and frankly it's a bit to much carb for the 258.

90% of parts for FI are in the garage, just running Holley till I have all the fuel injection ready.

I would not recommend a Holley. The Webber or 2100 are much better choices.

I was surfing the net looking for carbs yesterday. I threw a car out there in my search and said a 1988 AMC Eagle. Everything that popped up was a Holley 8384 which happen to be the same numbers as my carter carb, 8384.

You're going to want to stay in the 300-400cfm range. Even my 300cfm weber will slightly bog down the 4.2 if the second barrel opens too quickly (mechanical). I get the impression with some mods (cam, head, etc.) you'd want to be closer to 400cfm though.

Something like this would work, not sure what adapters you'd need though:

I'd check 4wd.com and other Jeep type places to see what they're offering to get an idea.

The carb looks exactly alike to my friends but I'm not 100% sure. Has anyone used the holley 7448c carb on their 258? What's your opinion of it?
