My dad has a 1994 YJ. The driver's seat just recently started ripping. It's the part closest to the outside. Other than seat covers, what are some options that you guys have done. I assume I am not the only one with this problem.
Well, you are somewhat limited when it comes to options for a ripped seat:
- seatcover
- used/new replacement seats
- or you could get a quote from your local upholstery (I've seen some nice upholstered seats, your choice of material and color).
Duct tape! Get some Bestop seat covers. I got them for my jeep and once they're on you can't tell they're seatcovers. They're waterproof (keeps your seat frames from rusting out) and you can take them out and wash them in your washing machine. Even if you get your seats recovered I would get some of these seatcovers to protect them.

Hey would you mind hooking me up with the link? A few years ago I got some seatcovers but either didn't fit right or didn't have the little hole in them to grab the lever to tilt the driver's seat forward. I'll go browse the net now and await your response too.
Yep, I got mine about 5 years ago and they've held up great. People don't even know they're seatcovers and best of all they keep the water from rusting out your seatframes.
For a good look, go the upholstery shop route. It is not that expensive if you shop around. I recently had 2 buckets fully covered for under 200 bucks. If your seating area is the only part that is bad, they can just take the covers off and put on new faces for much less than a complete recover.
I'll keep that in mind about just replacing the one part. But for now, I am going with the seatcovers.
