That hissing noise

Thanks to all for info on the vaccume lines -they do indeed seem to go to he vacuum motor on the front axle " as Jeeper Bill said "to slide the internal collar to engage the axles when in 4WD"
When I move the transfer case into 4WD, the "4WD" light does come on whether or not the tubes in the cab are sealed off (I've used some tape on them and this stops the hissing ...but should I leave the tape on or leave it off & put up with the hissing? - can any damage result by sealing the tubes off permanantly? seems OK at the moment!

Best wishes - Hwfa - new to YJ's

I would assume those tubes need to be connected to somthing. Where exactly are they located? I'll crawl under my dash and see if I can find where they go.
