Hid projectors custom for jeep
I saw a couple of people want a tread on my projectors i've made for my yj, this tread explain how I did it.
sorry my english is not perfect but i do my best, I'm form montreal, quebec so i'm french First, i have bought a kit to convert sealed beam to H4 on ebay. This kit include projectors. I already have hid on my jeep but i don't have projectors and I was tired to blind people, it was not too bad but it wasn't perfect. When I received my kit, i put my hid in it and I wasn't very satisfied. A friend gave me 2 hid kit with projectors 3 years ago. One kit come from an audi TT and the other kit I don't know where does it come from. So i decided to put real projectors in the ebay housing because ebay projector are not so good. this is what i've bought ![]() this is the projector, i will try to find witch car it come from ![]() First, I've cut behind the headlight to be able to put the projector in it. I've started with a saw for metal and then i've made the finish with the dremel to have a circle the more perfect possible ![]() the i just hat to put the projector in place and I've sealed it with rigid epoxy. I had to cut the support of the headlight because i need a bigger hole this is after ![]() ![]() thie is before the epoxy ![]() the ballasts are screwed inside the fender this is the result ![]() ![]() But we always want more and remember that i have a second kit who hung out in my garage so i decided to make auxiliary light with it these are the projectors that comes from an audi TT (bosch projectors) ![]() I don't have pictures yet but i've put them into an abs pipe of 3". It was'n enough beatiful to put it on my bumper but i've put them under my bumper. I have enough place to clear my sway bar, so they aren't visible during the day. I know it's not the best place for the mud and the rocks but i don't go offroad often (and i don't do difficult trails) so i doesn't matter (and it take like 5 min to remove.) this is the lighting at 30-35 feet from the garage ![]() only headlights ![]() with auxiliary lights (notice that I need few adjustments, it's not completly finished) ![]() ![]()

That looks good. Ill bet the aux lights would look nice mounted in the bumper and it would kind of protect them also.

On either side of the frame there is unless the housings are just bigger then the bumper height. Ive planned to do something similar with just some regular aux lights for a while just other more critical stuff keeps coming up.

Wow. that looks really nice, I may have to keep an eye out for some cheap projectors. I was going to just get HID bulbs but I may have to try this with my LJ sometime. Great work

Thanks for the write up. I did an H4 conversion awhile back. The light output from the H4's put off way more light when compared to the OEM configuration and it gave me that nice flat line of light when in low beams (similar to HID). But the light output of this mod looks even better. This may be something that I'll try to tackle later on. Thanks for the inspiration
.I'm assuming that the ballasts, HID bulbs and other critical components could be had at a junk yard? I'm not very familiar with HID setups. What types of vehicles would be a good donor? And what parts should I pull? Thanks ,

Those projectors are awesome. How difficult are they to aim correctly, and what's the target point of aim? Isn't it 4 feet high at a distance of 25 feet or something like that?

the ballast and hid bulbs you can go at any place they sale performance parts, you can try on ebay or meaby in a junk yard. For the projector, you can take almost any projector. For my auxiliary light, i took bosch projectors, like on audi or porsche.
