Hey, I'm new here.. Help with gears

Hey peoples,

I have a 93 yj 4.0. I'm looking at swaping gears.. I still have stock gears on her (3:73's). I wasn't sure what gear ratio is better. lower or higher?? IE: are 3:73's better then 4:11's?? etc..

Any suggestions on what I should be getting?

Thanks in advance for your help..

Hey there,

Right now I have Bfgoodrich MT's 235's and I'm looking into getting 33" tires. This is why I want to swap gears.

Thanks

Hi there,

If you want to get the same handling characteristics as you have right now with your smaller tires you should go for 4.27 with those 33"s. If you are serious about off-road-performance: 4.56

You can check it out for yourself at http://www.4lo.com (click on "Gear/tire size table" in the Calculator-banner)
;-)

enjoy
