T-case shifter can be a nuisance because you need to find a part that apparently isn't available any longer. It is called an "isolator" and somehow I managed to get one a year ago. Photos below:
![]() ![]() ![]() It takes up the slack between the metal clip and the Tcase shifter stub. Others have come up with solutions like welding nuts on opposide sides of the shifter and installing set screws, or cutting up pieces of inner tube to function as the isolator.

use rubber tape!
I had the same thing happen last week. No problem to fabricate a fix for it though.
I had to replace the spring clip that locks the handle onto the shifter stub. The weld holding the two pieces of spring steel had broken. I wrapped the trasfer case stub with thick Rubbery electrical tape. Not the regular kind of electrical tape, but the thicker and more rubbery kind. Sorry I don't what that typr is called. Anyway, after several laps of that tape on the transfer case stub, position the gear shift handle (with the welded spring steel already inside) over the trasnfer case stub and then push until it all locks into place. Make sure you use enough rubber tape to ensure a VERY tight fir for the transfer case handle. I had to really push hard to get my handle on and now it is great! |

I drilled and tapped the outside part with about 8 small set screws (3/16 ?). 2 on each side. I removed all the bad rubber, put the springs back in and put a lot of JB weld in the big part. I then pushed it back into place and tightened the set screws. It has been fine ever since.
