HELP! Jeep was in an accident
This morning on the way to work, the roads were slick, and the rear end of the jeep came around... i did a 180 and broadsided a car.
Everyone was ok, and walked away. No MAJOR damage to my Jeep, but the other car was trashed pretty good. Now here's the worst of the damage. Passenger side leaf spring is tweaked a little towards the driver. Bracket holding all the leafs is bent open. Now here's the bad part. The bracket that is attached to the frame, that the shackle is bolted into, broke off. Completely. As such, I cannot drive the Jeep. What are my best options to replacing that piece? I understand I will most likely have to replace that spring, but until I have a mounting bracket for that shackle, that's almost a non issue. I cannot post pictures becasue I do not have enough posts, but if you email me, I can send one along. Please, please help! This is my daily driver, and cannot go too long without it. Thanks, Gregg

Daily driver? You'd better start shopping for an interim beater - or call Rent-A-Wreck.
This mounting is a critical item of the suspension. Unless you're professionally trained in welding, you'd probably be best to leave it to a pro. You may want to get the frame checked out as well, see if it's still within specs. A blow that hard could have twisted or warped it. |

The back end of a Jeep can reverse directions on ya real quick. Yesterday the weather here was freezing rain. So I had decided that the Jeep and Alchohol and Ice didnt mix and stayed home. Actually since I took off my Mud terrains and put on Wrangler AT/S tires I seem to get pretty good traction even on slippery conditions, because of the siping. Before the Jeep got real squirrely with the M/T`s
As stated above I think that I would let an alignment or body shop check that frame and repair what is needed. That way they can make sure to keep everything true. |

http://www.currieenterprises.com/cestore/product.aspx?id=998 The front spring hanger is a weak point (from the factory) in the YJ suspension. They break routinely with normal offroad use. Mine broke a month before I was going to hit the Rubicon. I'm glad it did. As one of the other posts suggested, get it done by a chassis welder. Don't mess around here.
