Help with door compatibility

Hi, I'm new to the forum and new to jeepin, having just bought my yj about six months ago. I recently bought a supertop complete with frame and soft uppers to replace the worn patchwork top from the previous owner. Everything worked fine except the new door uppers. The pins don't line up with the holes in the doors, and the old uppers and frames are completely different. Do I have doors that are not yj doors, or what? I can't seem to find any existing write-ups about this. Thank you for any help you can offer.

on your old uppers, are the 3 pins all in a line, or is one offset about an inch? also, does it have a snap on the very front. the doors should also have a belt rail on it. CJs didn't have 1/2 doors, but TJ can be made to work by changing out the latches. also, is your new top a best top, or chinese? I've heard of some chinese ones not fitting right

and welcome

The doors do have belt rails and a snap in the front corner. The old uppers front pin was offset a bit. What is the best solution, looking for someone with yj doors who wants to trade, or modifying what I have?

sounds like you have YJ lowers, the pins whould all be in a line

you may just need to 'tweek' the inserts or the pins a little to get it to work. hope the pick helps you compare.

edit, these are modified TJ uppers on YJ lowers in this pick, modded to work with a hard top

I have a set of YJ frames if you don't figure it out. Well, complete uppers with little tears in the window.

The new uppers have Velcro at the bottom and the top rear corner of the doors are rounded rather than squared.

make sure Joey's are for the supertop, not the factory ones as they are different, as you have found out I'm betting the new ones got tweeked in shipping.

Here are pictures of mine.

Notice how the old one (on my door) has an offset pin. Also, I'm going to include measurements in my next followup post.

On my old (the one that fits) uppers, it is 15 inches from the front pin to the middle, and 14" from the middle to rear pins.

On my new upper, it is 11 3/4" from front pin to middle, and 14 1/4" from middle to rear pin.

Sounds like you have the soft uppers for the two-two piece soft doors that fit the Bestop Supertop. I believe the soft uppers for the hard half doors should have the belt rail. The uppers for the two piece soft doors have a velcro strip. It would seem that the two are not interchangeable.
