Hi, I'm new to the forum and new to jeepin, having just bought my yj about six months ago. I recently bought a supertop complete with frame and soft uppers to replace the worn patchwork top from the previous owner. Everything worked fine except the new door uppers. The pins don't line up with the holes in the doors, and the old uppers and frames are completely different. Do I have doors that are not yj doors, or what? I can't seem to find any existing write-ups about this. Thank you for any help you can offer.
on your old uppers, are the 3 pins all in a line, or is one offset about an inch? also, does it have a snap on the very front. the doors should also have a belt rail on it. CJs didn't have 1/2 doors, but TJ can be made to work by changing out the latches. also, is your new top a best top, or chinese? I've heard of some chinese ones not fitting right
The doors do have belt rails and a snap in the front corner. The old uppers front pin was offset a bit. What is the best solution, looking for someone with yj doors who wants to trade, or modifying what I have?
The new uppers have Velcro at the bottom and the top rear corner of the doors are rounded rather than squared.
Sounds like you have the soft uppers for the two-two piece soft doors that fit the Bestop Supertop. I believe the soft uppers for the hard half doors should have the belt rail. The uppers for the two piece soft doors have a velcro strip. It would seem that the two are not interchangeable.
