help! 4wd problems

94 yj, 4.0l
ford 8.8 in rear w 4:10 gear ratio

dana 30 front with 4:10 and Aussie locked

my problem started not too long ago, everything was fine
then 1 day i put it in 4wd and went to go and heard this " CLUNK!"
noise.. i stopped and looked underneath and saw nothing visiable

now when i put it in 4wd (high or low) it pulls to the right and makes this "clunk" that is very loud.

it almost sounds as if the chain inside the t case is slipping then catching, or maybe i have a broken tooth on a gear inside the t case?

i looked in front axle and nothing looked wrong.

any idea what this could be? thanks in advance!

If you think its internal theres only one thing to do: pull the case and take a look. Might as well have a chain upgrade standing by.

Also snap ring pliers and the transmission mount bushings. Take the whole transfer case out. It is much easier to work on. Also, you need to support the transmission with a jack.
