help 2 different types of 4x4 actuators

I recently bought a 91 yj that had a blown rear end and since previous owner drove it a week in front wheel drive eventually broke front axle half shaft and ball joint. i bought a set of used axles from i belive a 93 yj. all looked same except the 4x4 actuators. the 91 has 2 vacume lines out the top and one out the passanger side of it. the new axle has 2 lines out the top and an electrical connector out the drivers side of actuator. .. all though puzzled at whats the difference???? i thought no big deal ill just swap them... then since im doing a spring over axle lift at same time i now cant connect the hose out the side as the leaf spring is in the way. so can i use the newer style actuator and eliminate the side hose??? any help is appreciated.

I think the electrical connection turns on the 4x4 light. It's been many years since my wife had a 93 though so hopefully I am remembering right.

Leave whichever one came on it there and lock the fork over.

Yeah i figured the electrical connector was for the light which i can do without, but then whats the extra vacuum line do?? and how do i know im using the right 2 of the 3 if i use that actuator........

As for locking the fork over, hows that work as far as wheels binding while turning on the road? Im a ford guy and all the ford trucks ive owned have had lockout hubs same as the cj's that ive owned. I know the light duty half ton trucks and suv's always have there axles turning but those are cv not u joints.. and even though its primarily going to be a trail jeep i do plan to drive on street some too and dont want to be tearing up axle u joints

You may have to balance the front driveshaft if you have vibrations but other than that there are no ill effects.

This'll solve your entire issue.

that clairifies what the new axle is set up for. but the original axle in the jeep (91) does not have the electrical connector, and has a vacuum port coming out where the arrow is pointing at the unit in your diagram

i believe the extra vacumn line is what signals the 4x4 light to turn on in the older models. I have one of each. you can always trace that third vacumn line to see where it goes too.

This is the older version. If you look at the thread linked below, you'll see there is a diagram floating around that is missing some things.

thats the diagram i needed thanks... unfortunately that means i have no choice but to lock the front axle.... was hoping the green line was for a light since i cant gain acsess to that one now that the soa lift is done and springs now are in the way of it.
thanks guys for clarifying this for me... this forum is as helpful as DOOTALK is, all though id rather be on trails on the sled than jeep, either way i gotta be out there
