I have the Hella lamps with PIAA bulbs and I love the way they look.

I put some Sylvania halogen Xtra Visions in my explorer to replace the PIAA's that the last owner had put in. They worked great but both burned out in less that a year, so I put back the dimmer PIAA's but they still work at least.

I've used the Hella Visions in the past. I don't think they were near as good as the IPF's with Silverstar 9003 Bulbs I am using now

I bought the IPF's Here

RCHavok797, are they the vision or the e-codes? I can't seem to find the e-code made by hella. I read the box for hella vision, it states European Beam Technology now US Legal, seems like a marketing gimic. European beam pattern will not get DOT approval.....The search continues.

Deaver,

Does your IPF's have cuts in the lens or is it flat glass? Searching around a bit, I read that IPF changed lights at some point. I think but not sure the ones with the cut lens are the better ones. The link you provided was hard to tell the lens style.

I guess I'll call around tomorrow to see if that is the actual photo. Those look more like e-code.
Thanks

The IPF's that I have are indeed E-Codes. The lens have a "fluted" glass. They are the ones currently available

IPF did experiment with a different lens configuration a while back and have since returned to their original design

Although they are E-Codes, I've never had a problem with PA State inspection.

Hella does offer an E-Code version, but not easy to come by. The Hella Visions are NOT E-Codes.

I have tried other brands and configurations in my vehicles over the years, I wouldn't use anything else. I think the DOT standard for lighting is horrible by comparison to the European Standard (E-Code)

E-Codes offer a much better pattern and are much, much more effective and safer, especially in inclement weather

I did this replacement too, and so far I have not had any problems, but it is well less then a year. I like the intensity and color of the light (blueish white sort of like the HID's) the 9003's throw, as well as the pattern and distance they throw out in front of me.

I went with the Delta conversion kit from Quadratec with Sylvania Silverstar bulbs and like it much better than the OEM headlights.
