Headlight Buzzer on a Jeep YJ

Ok, help me out here guys.... I have a 1993 Jeep Wrangler (YJ) and since I bought it in 2003, I have never had any sort of warning or buzzer that I have left my parking lights or headlights on.

Do they have such a buzzer? And if so, can anyone guide me to where I should be looking? I'm hoping it's just a fuse in the fuse box or something.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I never had a headlight buzzer in my '90 and I bought it new.

It did have a seatbelt or a key buzzer though. I remember it was annoying and I pulled it.

I was afraid of this. I like the reminder. I guess I'll start researching something after market, if it even exists.

Thanks for the info.

JC Whitney sells an after market buzzer to hook inline with your lights just for that reason. Looking for it now with no luck haha.. I'll post a link if I find it.

Ok, so I got my headlight buzzer in the mail yesterday and did the install. It is actually very easy to install, finding the correct fuse to use was a bit difficult. But that's why I'm gonna make it easy for anyone else who wants to put a headlight reminder buzzer in their YJ.

The PRODUCT: A simple 2 wire connection buzzer that allows reminds you if you leave your lights on. You leave your parking lights or your headlights on and you turn your Jeep off, the buzzer sounds. It's that simple. No more dead batteries due to leaving the headlights on.

Ok, first thing first, this is what the package looks like.

This is what the package looks like displayed out. you only need the 2 fuse clips on the far right, they other fuses clips are for different applications on different vehicles and essentially become garbage.

Here are the install instructions you will need. There are 2 wires, the Red one connects to the ACC PS *5 amp* fuse. The WHITE wire connects to the FAN/HTR *25 amp* fuse. It's that simple, you're done. The buzzer itself has double stick tape on the back and will mount to a clean flat surface.

You can purchase the liteminder for about $18 shipped from JC Whitney. The "link" option on this site isn't working so just add the www. to the following address.... jcwhitney.com/autoparts/Search?catalogId=10101&storeId=10101&sku=zx734756

Overall this product is great. It's just a little add on that Jeep didn't do, but you can do for less than $20. I give it

And lastly, a quick glimpse at my Jeep with the new Mickey Thompson Sidebiter wheels.

I just purchased the very same product directly from the manufacturer,
for $7.95 shipping included. Nice folks to deal with.
#400 Headlights on Reminder $5.95 + $2.00 shipping.
Douglas Electronics 510.483.8770 or go to their website (see photo of package in post above).

Diy

My battery died on Sunday after I left my lights on, so I decided to fix my buzzer. All I did was cut the wires for the seat belt buzzer and splice in wires from the negative door trigger and the headlights. It took me about an hour.

I ordered one from liteminder.com just now.

But I also ordered this gizmo, 'cuz I'm always forgetting to turn off my signal when I change lanes on the freeway.......

And thanks for the write up on the install for the light buzzer, I'm gonna have to get one. I leave my lights on sometimes.

Edit: there is a buzzer I'm the black box under the fuse box. You might be able to attach that somehow.

Big Thanks !!!

First to TODD for the headlight buzzer info and the great picture of the fuse panel.
Second to Milky for the info on Douglas Electronics. I ordered it for $7.95 including shipping and received it 2 days later and it is installed and works great.
When ordering from Douglas Electronics, they asked if I would post their correct phone number of 1-510-352-5483. Apparently the original posted number is one of their back-line numbers.

Great forum...
