hard top advice

I'm thinking of getting a hard top before next winter and I wanted to hear from actual users. I have a 1988 yj sport , it is my DD.I basically want to know what you think is the best and worst , pros and cons , and anything else you think Is useful info

I'm guessing you live in Socal. I see palm trees. You won't get the flapping at 70mph, and if you include hard doors, you won't have to unzip windows. Things inside the Jeep will be a little more secure.

Cons? Not many except for added weight. I don't have a hard top anymore. Don't need one.

I had a hard top on our last YJ. Enjoyed it. WAY quieter than that soft top. Had full doors as well. It was a nice set up as it was my son's DD. Only PITA was removing the top in the spring to go soft or naked. Designed a pulley system for the garage and that solved that problem.

If my current YJ was a DD, I'd have a hard top. Since it's not, I don't.

you will need doors too the ones you have will not work.

1987 yj w/(new)258 .060 over comp cam mc 2150 carb
1989 yj sold
1983 cj7 w/258 t5 dana 300 45k original
mc2100 carb

You just can't fix stupid!!!

you can use the YJ half doors if you use TJ upper halfs though there is some modification required

Does anybody have a preference to brand or style.

Oh, and sayin someone is from socal and they are really from NOR-CAL is a major dis........lol

Sorry man! I see a palm tree there and didn't think they grew in a cool climate, therefore you wouldn't need the top for warmth purposes. My bad.

Lol ....no prob. Buy yeah I live pretty close to snow that's why I feel I would really enjoy a hard top. I just don't want to get the wrong one . id rather spend the money once and be happy with it for years to come.

Ok, then my vote goes for the factory hard top and doors. Some of the aftermarket (Acme) ones look kind of funky and they have sliding windows.
