hard start after MC2100 swap?

The carb seems to run great after the Jeep's warmed up, but it pretty tough to get started in the mornings. 30-45 seconds of cranking is not unusual, and it idles pretty rough for the first 2-3 minutes.
Is there an adjustment or anything I missed? I did look at the choke plate and it's fully closed when cold.
TIA!

The choke plate should have a small space. I just ran mine about 5 minutes ago. When it cools down, I'll tell ya what my space is when the choke is set.
I usually tap my gas a pinch, just so ever slightly, sets the choke and gives a squirt. Do you have any vacuum leaks? Did you seal off the port under neath that goes to the choke? If not you'll have a vacuum leak. How about the float level? If set too high, the gas will empty over night, possible flood condition and no fuel in the bowl for intial startup. What size carb is it...1.08? What size jets?

If it does it only first thing in the morning, or several hours after it cools. Don't start it, look down the carb and tap the gas, is it squirting fuel?

It is a 1.08 model w/44 jets. I bought it from the guy on eBay, so I assume the float level was set correct during the rebuild. The port underneath is sealed.
I'm at 7000 ft altitude if that makes a difference.
Thanks.

I have the MC2150 1.21 from the ebay guy....manual choke. I have to pull the choke all the way closed, crank it, and once she fires, open the choke a hair and let her warm up. Will it fire right up with starter fluid?
