Half door panel replacements

Has anyone purchased this replacement panel?

http://www.hotjeepparts.com/products...%2A%2A%2A.html

Wondering how the fit and construction are. Gonna call them tomorrow. Ad makes it sound like both left and right panels are included. If so, not bad for 100.00.

I heard back from them already. Panels are made by Gauge Works. Quadratec also carries them. 109.00 is for the pair. My gut feeling is they are probably flimsy so if anyone has bought them let me know your opinion. I may just paint the tan ones I just bought for my CJ.

don't have personal experience with the panels, but I was also looking at buying a set of those to replace my factory grey ones. Don't remember where I saw it, as I frequent several Jeep boards, but I read a post from someone who had purchased them and he said that they are less than half as thick as the OEM panels and pretty cheap feeling ABS plastic that he had compared to an antifreeze jug. That was enough to turn me off of wanting a set any longer

Hundred bucks seems a little low for quality, but then again $500 is way to high for plastic flares. Have not tried them but did look them up couple years ago. Ended up painting my stockers with plastic paint, has held up for couple years now.

I pulled apart the doors I bought when I got home and the OEM plastic is about 1/8" thick. But looking at the design there really is no stress points on the plastic. The handle screws to metal, etc. Although not sure what the top piece is, maybe an arm rest? That is probably weak.

why do you recommend the diamond plate ones? How long ago did you order them and how did you find the quality of the plastic compared the OEM panels?

thanks for any additional info on these panels

I think the diamond plate is just cosmetic. It is only in that inset and can't imagine it adds any strength to the panel. Adds about 30.00.

Just cosmetic nothing structurally to its advantage! I'm just saying I'd recommend them the panel as a whole! Would buy them for my 87 but gonna go with full doors this time!

yeah, to me it looks like it's just glued on...that's why I asked for a reason to pick those over the plain ones...which normally would have been my choice, as I don't really care for diamond plate

since you have hands on experience with these, can you tell us about the quality of the plastic used...how thick is it, does it feel like it will hold up or does it feel brittle?

Today's abs has came along way! Lighter, stronger, uv protected etc. They are thinner but stronger and nicer looking. I bought them 4 yrs ago and still look good even with my teenage nephew driving the jeep now!
