Got sponsored by Superlift, going bigger with D30/8.8 axles, 33s or 35s?

Hey guys, last week Superlift sponsored my Jeep and sent out the 3.5" heavy duty complete lift kit. Currently I'm running 31s on 1.5" lift with 1/2" shackles, 3.55 gears D30/D35 non-c clip. The idea is to run the new 3.5" lift with 1/2" shackles for a total 4".

I also have a new set of C&C Fab tube fenders with 3" flare and a set of smittybilt tube fenders for the rear. Tomorrow I'm going to a junk yard to look at a 8.8 rear end from 97 exploder with 4.10s. They do have a D30 with 4.11s from a 4cyl 89 YJ in stock as well, I may pick up.

I have a few questions and want to make sure I do this right. Can I run D30 with 4.11s up front and 8.8 with 4.10s in the rear? Do I get 33s or go for 35s? I don't want to regear in the future. One thing to consider, I am in a wheelchair and getting in/out on 35s will be a challenge. I'm sure I could manage 33s though, but worried about getting a desire to go bigger later..

I'll comment on the tires. I got the same height lift you do , but with factory height shackles and a 1" body lift. I'm running 31's for now and I've decided to go with 33's so I don't fill up the fender wells and to keep the drivability with the 3.55's that are in it.

I think you want to keep both of your ratios exact, but I'm not certain on the 4.10/4.11 differences...aside from the obvious.

This makes me wonder if I just went with 33s, if I could get away with running 3.55s with d30/35 till I blow up the rear. At which point, get the 8.8 and regear once for 35s.

Could you pls post pic with 31s on ur current setup.

4.11 in front and 4.10 in the rear will work fine.
Grab the 8.8 and Dana 30. With 33 inch tires you will be back to the stock power.

I would go with 35s. I run 35s on 3" of lift and I think 33s would look to small with 4" of lift. If you want 33s then go with them but if you really want 35s (you know you do lol) then get them. Don't let your disabilities limit you and what will really make you happy unless its really not a possibility. 35s and 4.10 will be a nice combo.

Edit: Oh, how the hell do you pick up a sponsor like Superlift??? !

Nice, I would like that! Great to know, I'm not complaining but how do 4.10s and 4.11s work together?

Are you auto or manual or does it even matter?

I just bumped from 33s to 35s. Running 4.10s as well. The power loss between the two, if there even is any, isn't noticeable for me. It does feel a big doggy getting up to speed on the freeway, but that's mostly due to the fact that I'm scared to push the pedal more than halfway down with the d35 pushing me along.

Other than that, it's totally fine.

Cheers

Haha, I know what you mean. Might as well go big and do it right from the start. There are so many trails I would like to explore, don't want to limit myself and have to do it all over again later.

As far as Superlift goes, called them one morning saying "I'm an existing customer with a sponsorship proposal, who can I speak with?" Made my way up the main guy in charge, threw together an email with a short story about myself and the jeep, some trail pictures of rock crawling and some Go-Pro footage. Got myself a sponsor.

Their 1.5" lift is amazing. Great flex, doesn't sag even loaded up, etc.. Told them I wanted to go bigger and they sponsored the 3.5" heavy duty lift!

I see, it is safe to assume with auto RPM will be higher running same gears/tires?

For the gear ratio difference:

As long as the front and rear ratios are within 1% the vehicle works just fine on the road, and can even be as different as 2% and work just fine off-road with no side effects.

1 point difference in ratio is equal to 1%. To find the percentage difference in ratios it is necessary to divide, not subtract. In order to find the difference divide one ratio by the other and look at the numbers to the right of the decimal point and how far they make the answer different from 1.00. for example 3.54 3.50 = 1.01 or 1%, not 4% different. And likewise 4.11 4.09 = 1.005 or only a 1/2% difference. These differences are about the same as a 1/3" variation in front to rear tire height which probably happens more often than we realize.
