^good point.well I've been driving around the past couple days with the oil in it, but I'm getting some gear grinding from 2nd to 3rd.no other gear I can tell does. Anyone think maybe the syncros are just wore out?

Yep. Its common with the ax-5. Not worth fixing, really. They are like Dana 35's in the jeeping community: bottom of the barrel and someone is always getting rid of them for something better. Keep your eyes open and you can score one for free or upgrade to the ax-15

I run Mobile 1 5w30 in my AX15 per instructions of my transmission guy (and business partner)

Yes. Motor oil instead of gear oil.

I beg to differ. I had mine rebuilt about five years ago, and it's been purring like a kitten ever since.

I use Pennzoil Synchromesh in it. A lot of guys swear by it.

I've only had two wheeling trips, since the Teralow was put in. But I haven't noticed any difference.
