hey, i went off roading last night, and when i got to work today, i noticed there was fluid all over my front diff, so upon further inverstigation, i found that it was coming from the top of my gear box where the steering shaft goes in, do i need a new gear box, or just to replace a seal or what? thanks
There is usually a reason for a seal to fail.
Outside of external damage from something,
it most likely is a bearing gone bad, which takes out
the seal and possibly putting a groove in the shaft.
Just putting a new seal in will likely not last long.
Concidering how tuff it is to get the pitman arm off, (VERY),
it is worth it to fully inspect the box before putting it back in.
