Gauges Dead?

Hey all,
So, I let my girlfriend borrow my 94 YJ today to go to her Uncle's house. She comes back and says, "oh, there's a problem with the Jeep, none of the gauges work." She said that she originally looked down and noticed that the speedo and tach were both at 0 but the rest of the gauges were working. Then the next thing she noticed was that the fuel gauge slowly rose to Full and the rest of the gauges went all the way down.
Any ideas on where I can start to troubleshoot?

Thanks in advance,

Rich

Sounds like you might have a short to ground somewhere.

Good Luck!

Check the ACC/LMP fuse. It fuses the power to your gauges and your reverse lights. If it's blown, the most common cause is a shorted reverse bulb. Replace the bulbs and that should fix the problem.

It was the IGN/LPS fuse. Hopefully it won't blow again... tracking down electrical gremlins suck!

Thanks!

Ok, well, looks like there's an underlying issue here. The fuses keep blowing. I changed out all the bulbs in the tail lights and they still keep blowing.

Any thoughts on where to start checking?

Thanks,

Rich
