Gauge Cluster Help

Bought used gauge cluster off EBAY. The seller said it was for a yj 87-95. The wiring harness is pin type . My "88" yj has a ribbon type connection that connects directly to the board. Can this be adapted to work? The pin one has 13 pins and only 12 contacts on the ribbon connector. Or do you know were I can get a cheap gauge cluster . have been to all the bone yards near by , none of them have any wranglers . My gauge cluster has 5 gauges ,If a picture is needed of the connector e-mail me for one.

Thanks for any help you can give

What is the part number on the cluster you're replacing, is it the same as the newer one?
I may have one... let me know the P/N number and I'll check for you.
I needed a speed/tach cluster and the yard sold me both since the yard they got it from sent both.
Also, where are you located?
My junk yard didn't have any Wranglers, but they got on the computer and found one...took minutes. and a day to ship.

Gauge cluster

Wolf3902 ,
That is part of our problem ,the old one does not have a part # on it. It has only one # on the circuit brd and one on the plastic housing , those #'s are (circuit brd # VDO 3045001461 and the housing # is VDO 3024001253) The one we bought off of ebay is Chrysler Part # 56004888 . this one does not fit our 88 yj. If you email me i would be able to send you pic's of what the old one it looks like.

thanks for your help

The one I have is the same as the one you got off e-bay. #56008888
13 pins.
I think a picture would help someone here to be able to help you.
Maybe you could call a dealer and get the Crysler part number at least.
The dealer wanted $360.00 for my tach/speed cluster so I went to the junk yards.
Send me pics and I can post them for you tomorrow morning. I'm leaving here for the evening and won't be back on till then. Or someone else can today.
sent you a PM

I'd watch out for the oil pressure gauge tho .. looks like it's bent the needle from pegging so hard ..

Not true. In '92 or '93 the analog clock was removed the 4x4 indicator moved to the left hand side of the cluster. Other guages changed position so I'm sure the connections are different.

check the sender .. ground the wire to the head (with the ign on) and check to see if the gauge goes up to hot .. if so replace the sender ..

My 88 has the same positions with a wire ribbon connection in the back. Except my temp fuel and clock do not work.
