Gas Tank filling

I have the 95 YJ with the gas tank opening behind the license plate.

Is there a way to either:
a) improve the opening to allow for the pump to sit without me bent over and holding it
-or-
b) putting a new gas tank in with a left rear side opening like the new ones.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Regards,

Greg

just take the licence plate bracket off and put the plate on the bumper then you have no problems

yea i just drilled 4 self tapping screws into my tailgate... fixed that issue. spray painted the inside of the tail light's clear section so it didn't light up the gas cap also

if you havent modded your bumper, the gas cap will lock down your tag to the bumperetts.....(pull down tag, jam gas cap between tag and bumperett...to release tag, remove cap from location...repeat as necessary)

or just stick the gas cap between the tag and body...it will keep it open far enough to be a little move convenient

i just put the nozzle in click it so it stays on and then put my leg up against it so it can't fall out. You can't walk away and clean the windows, etc..., but no more leaning over til the tank is full. Best part, it is free.

gas tank

I have put the gas cap in between to keep it open and certainly do the leg against the pump once it is placed in the opening, but I like to do something other than stand there.

"lift the jeep and you won't have to bend over to hold it" - loved this line.

Greg

BTW, the radiator is working like a charm after install this weekend (and new/old thermostat housing). It does have a different sound to it now, though.

Is anyone in SoCal going to the desert this weekend? I will be at Superstition.

i know the search is down but maybe somone has the link to a write up on installing a TJ syle filler. i remember it a while ago. you pretty much just get a TJ filler cut a hole in left side of jeep install and connect all hoses. then if you want to get fancy you can replace the YJ liscense plate bracket w/ one from a TJ. might try searching JU or PBB.

I relocated my plate onto my spare tire and removed the mount from the back; that thing was a PITA...
