I figured out that you can only have the pump handle squeezed about half way...after many a trial and error. Then every time the tank fills and the pump handle automatically shuts off... the whole pump handle flies out of my tank fill hole and makes a giant mess. The first time this happened I crapped my pants as it also makes a big noise when the license plate springs back. Ahhhhhh.....the secret pleasures of owning a yj. Experiment with the nozzle placement. I have to have mine in pretty straight.__________________ FLXPAIN-it's what I got Green Jeep Club Member #135 Current Jeep- 95' YJ Rio Grande 3.5 Rough Country Lift. 3" body Lift. 31" BFG AT's. 2.5L Soon to have a pair of Sentinals Vent covers! |

Registered User | i have finally found a plave that has a pump that fits into my filler hole perfectly. it was awsome. i had the gas flowing at top speed and everything. how ever this place was pretty far away and i most likely wont go their again. once in a while i like to go to those big places that are full serve. where one guy has to do the gas for like 10 other cars. he sets them all automatically and just runs back and fourth. however when he gets to my yj, he then realizes that he has to actually fill the thing manually going at half speed. its fun to watch because he has to pause like 5 times to go and run to shut off other peoples pumps. __________________ 94 YJ 6cyl Auto some mods. sold 99 TJ Sahara 2.25" bb 33x12.50 BFG AT's. www.NEWENGLANDJEEPZ.org New England Jeep Club Member #2 UNH |

Registered User | Mine used to do it too, it has to do with the filler hose coming from the intake behind the license plate. I used to have to only put the fuel nozzle in halfway and then it would let me open up full speed, if it was in all the way it would choke off after not even 1 second of pumping (I used to goto full serve stations just to laugh to myself while the guy curses up a storm lol, I even had one ask me if the tank was already full). I installed a body lift and it stretched the hose tighter and angled it downward so now the pump nozzle only goes in halfway anyways so you can't really screw it up anymore. Every jeep is different (that really should be the slogan hehe) so did yours do this since you bought it or since you installed your body lift? If it only did it after the body lift then maybe the lift has kinked the hose, if it's done it since factory then it's probably just like mine, only put the pump halfway in, just be careful it doesn't spray all over. __________________ My jeep has only ever killed 3 things, a cat, a deer, and my wallet.
