fuel pump shorted in tank, still here, not sure how?
driving up the mountain the other day and fuel pump quit. after dropping tank and inspecting fuses, the fuel system ecu 30 amp fuse was blowen. i began to strip allk harness armour and inspect and trace fuel pump wires backward, all looked good. under futher inspection noticed a small burn on the top collar that held the fuel pump in and a matching one on the positive terminal of fuel pump! a dent in the gas tank skid plate had bent the top collar and caused, with lots of vibration, for the grounded collar to come into contact with the positive terminal on fuel pump, inside gas tank!! no big boom! really wondering how it did not go BOOM!
There is little oxygen in the tank, without a combustable atmosphere there will be no fire.
