Fuel Pump/ Sending Unit, help please!

Basically a new jeeper! Bought a 1989 yj last spring and only now getting time to have a little one on one time with her So this is my problem, i bought the jeep off a family friend who had it in heated storage for 6 years! When he stored it he removed the tank, then drained the lines, so in time he mixed the tank up with others he had laying around and gave me two 20gal he had narrowed it down too. One has the pump and sending unit in the tank, the other just the sending unit. Which one would be for mine? Its a 1989 2.5, 5 speed! Any help would be great, thanks in advance!

I'm not sure if this is the case with Jeeps, but with what I have seen of carbed engines the fuel pump is usually external to the tank. I also know that I have a 94 with FI and my pump in in the tank with the sending unit.

The one with the pump in the tank you have a fuel injected engine.

X2. The 2.5 in YJs was always fuel injected, so pump and sending unit should be in the tank.
