Are you losing power to the fuel pump? If so, you are supposed to. When the key is turned, the pump turns on for a second, then off until you crank the engine over.

RE: power brake brake

I have not. I will though but if I may ask, what does that have to with it not turning over or holding a connection?

I hear the pump go on...the connection to the coil is not hoilding on...my neighbor used a light tester, and when I turn the key it gets power but then it loses it. When I crank it, the connection is lost....

UPDATE!! Well, we may NEVER really know what the exact nature of the problem that caused my Jeep to up and die while driving home on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon. We could speculate that is was the fuel pump that went, but perhaps we were wrong, It was defintitely NOT the ECM or PCU so thank goodness there! The problem was most likely the CPS which I did change out, however the guy who replaced my fuel pump inadvertantly wired it backwards causing the unit not to work properly, so the Jeep did not start even after the CPS was replaced.

Last Monday, we fixed the wiring issue on the fuel pump and the Jeep did start and it ran for quite some time as I believe I have reported already...the reason it died the third time around, was not due to anything except some wires that somehow decided to find a nice place to lay which happened to be on my exhaust pipe...and as I am sure you have figured out, the wires melted causing a short thus not allowing my Jeep to start....whew!!!

So that is the ending to my Jeep saga, nothing major (except the 4hrs of labor at the mechanic) just a little bit of carelessness and $462.00 out of pocket to fix the problem....actually is was $38 dollars to FIX the problem and $388 to FIND the problem....LOL!

Moral of my story...TAKE YOUR TIME!! DON't ASSUME ANYTHING AND CHECK ALL YOUR WIRING NEAR HOT SPOTS FOR SHORTS!! TIME IS MONEY...

Take care y'all!!

My '93 has a 20 gallon tank...so I just assumed all '93's did.
I know my Yj is a "sport" or "s" version though, not necessarily a stock Jeep.
I was gonna say, why would you EVER question MAX on jeeps info.......

It's been a few year but after the whole fuel pump issue and wires etc the Jeep died AGAIN! Somebody suggested at one point it was the computer and well, he was correct. It took 3 weeks to find a computer then we had to send it to NJ to be programmed, another two weeks and yet another week of setting it up for my Jeep...I got my jeep back a few days before thanksgiving in 2009!

Everything has been awesome since! In December I drove from CT to Chicago to Marquette, mi and then back again! Her first cross country trip (well, 1/2 lol) no problems, it was good!

I hope everyone is having a fabulous beginning to the new year!!

Where are you from originally. I am from the south side myself. Have you had any more problems with the Jeep since you original issue. You have a lot of faith in it. That is one hell of a drive in the Northern winer!

I'm from Warren actually - Van Dyke and 10 mile. I've had some issues...had to have a new computer put in. Tough part was finding one. Then it had to go to NJ to be programmed...was a pain. Now all I have is leaking between the hard top and frame but that's because I'm missing parts...parts whose name I'm not sure of lol. It's duct taped right now lol

If you need parts you need to PM me and I will point you in a cheaper direction. There was someone else told the same thing here. The ECU is easy to come by and universal with the engine size and year for the XJ and YJ. I just got one for $30 for someone here. The Hard Top Leak, is that coming from the area on the top of the windshield? Is it screwed down?

I live Down River. Did the Rotten Grotten thing when I was on a sub. Like the people in Wyandotte where I grew up. After going half way aound the world and back I ended up where I started.

Actually, there are no screws lol! Also, there are supposed to be two rubber corner pieces but I only have one. So the last time I took the top off I didn't put the other one on. I have no clue the name of the part. And yeah, awesome tell me where I should buy them. Loverocks_4013@yahoo.com
