Not standard, optional.

I did the mod to my '91, and to the wife's '93 and both had the 10-1/2" long vent tube that limited fuel capacity to around 15 gallons. Now each hold 20+ gallons.

I did not know that???

My '93 has a 20 gallon tank...so I just assumed all '93's did.
I know my Yj is a "sport" or "s" version though, not necessarily a stock Jeep.

Her YJ is just a "standard" Wrangler, to the best of my knowledge.

AFAIK, it was an option on all poly tank equipped '91-'95 YJ's.

I would find it easy to believe that the "20 gallon tank option" was included in certain trim levels & special edition packaged models.

you have to get the screws started and sort of such the top of the tank back up into position. the rubber boot thing does need to be in the hole in the bottom of the tank though. Its supposed to be that tight to prevent the pump from banging around in there. Also while your in there check the white plastic box to see if its warped at all on the side the float for the fuel level gauge is, its pretty common for them to get misshapen after a while and then the float hangs up at 1/4 tank or so and you run out of gas until you know any better.

Hey Kim!

It is a puzzle! You just have to move it around (twisting & such) until you get it lined up just right.

Also, make sure the rectangle shaped plastic baffle (the box) hasn't broken free. Sometimes they get loose & move around, if that's the case just remove it altogether. You may have to break it into pieces to get it out, if you end up removing it. It helps keep fuel near the pump while turning & at odd angles, but for everyday normal driving it's not as important. You'll also want to avoid getting very low on your fuel level if you do remove it.

Do you know of any fix for the plastic box? mine is pretty badly warped and even after trimming it and trying to bend it back into place my float still hangs up on it. I was thinking of making a ring out of stainless or maybe aluminum that I could pop rivit to the box to force it to hold its shape and stay out of the way.

If you could get a piece of stainless in there and attach it to the box to help it keep it's shape, you might be alright. But I would probably just take the easy way out & yank it out, if it were me doing it on my own Jeep.

That plastic box...A baffle.

Yeah, mine was warped and stopped the sender unit from moving so the gas gauge didn't work.
So I cut a slot in the baffle for the sender to move. Worked great.

The only thing that needs to be inside this baffle is that screened intake.

Here is a pic
I just cut a hole, basically cutting the warp out.

The pic is blocked for me here at work, but based on the description I think that's a great option!

Is it turning over but not starting or just not doing anything when you turn the key?

When you first turn on the key, can you hear the pump for a few seconds?

Did you change the fuel filter?

Silly question, put enough gas back in?

Look at the simple things first.

all that has been checked....and there is enough gas...and yes it is starting, but not turning over. It might be the CPS, that is what Mean Max thinks...so I will be checking that tomorrow.

okay! so I have replaced the fuel pump, the CPS AND then ignition pickup....and STILL no FREAKIN POWER!! I have determined that when the key is turned there IS POWER (my neighbor has a tester) but the minute the fuel pump kicks in, we lose power...it will not hold the connection!! I am going crazy....I can change parts but ELECTRICAL??? out of my league!! I need help! What we think is I am not getting power to the coil...I tried to follow the blue wire (we dtermined is not getting power) but I seriously have no clue where to folow it, how far or anything!

So if anyone has any schematics, or knows anything about what I am goingthrough please, oh please feel free to email me ASAP! aquarian5@msn.com

Thanks so much in advance for any help you can offer!!
