Fuel Pump replacement
I need to replace the fuel pump on my 95 Jeep Wrangler. The problem is that I can normally hear the pump kicking over with the turn of the ignition but as of late it is not working. It takes a few dozen (ignition on / ignition off) turns of the key (without turning the engine over) to activate it.
Can anyone tell me if it is necessary to drop the fuel tank to change the pump? Mark.

Can you hear the pump relay click when the ignition is turned on?

Check your relay first just swap it out with another relay in that little fuse box. Like the Ac relay. If it works then Just replace the relay. If it is the pump You will need to disconect your fuel filler hose and the filler vent hose from the tank.also get it as empty as possible. Unplug the wire connection to the fuel pump. It will be in the rear drivers side wheel well just behind your fuel lines on the edge of the tank. Then there are 5 nuts on the back and three on the front of your tank skid plate . take them loose and make sure you have a jack under the tank to hold the weight. You will need to raise it up some on the right side and let the left side down some to clear the exhaust hanger. then there will be two vent hoses on top of the tank. pull them lose before you let it down very far. after taht you can let it down and remove the fuel line and return line. Mark them so you don't get them on backwards when you put it back together. From there just take out the screws that hold the fuel pump and sending unit holder in and pull it out. replace the pump and put it back together. Don't forget to clean off the top of the tank before removing the pump. You don't want to get any dirt in there and have to repjace it again. also get a new filter that goes on the bottom of the fuel pump.
This may or may not help but I just finished puting a fuel pump in a few hours ago.
