Fuel Pump?
Hey guys. Question. I think I have a bad fuel pump, but thought I would try to verify before I dropped the tank.

91 YJ with 4 cyl. 150,000 miles. Has run great for years. In last month, battery died, replaced battery, wouldn't idle. Reset computer by disconnecting battery, seemed to fix it.

Drove for a couple days, and the thing started running really bad. It was a very sudden change. Limped it back home. Very rough idle, and when I hit the gas, it got worse. Eventually stalled and couldn't keep it running. Seemed like fuel issue. Disconnected the filter on the frame rail, cranked engine, and no gas shot out of the fuel line. Pump sounds like it is turning on, but not pumping.

Just looking for opinions before dropping the tank. Anything else besides pump that you guys think?

So you did check your fuel pressure release valve? Also, check your relays(simple stuff first) and make sure they are still good. Thought I had a bad fuel pump once, but turned out to be an $8 relay. Make sure all is good with your fuel filter as well. I have the same year model and engine as you do. I started with the inexpensive stuff and worked my way to the pump. It's generally older stuff that should be replaced anyway. Best of luck.

Also, check the components of your throttle body (tps, iac) and make sure everything is tightened down properly. Mine had a rough idle, and something was loose on the tps or iac (don't remember which one), but once I cleaned and tightened it all back down, the problem was solved.

Thanks JC. I did move the relays around. Swapped the 3, starter, shutoff, and pump into different positions and same result. Again, I have the fuel line disconnected from the filter on the frame rail, and before the filter, no fuel comes out. Even cranking, no fuel comes out. I'm thinking pump, but appreciate your thoughts...always good to check the basic stuff first.
