Fuel leaks from top of fuel tank on cool mornings.....why?

I noticed that fuel is leaking from somewhere up on the top of my fuel tank whenever I drive on cool/cold mornings without warming the engine up first. What is the problem?

If it leaks from the top of the tank, you have to pull it to fix it anyway, might just as well pull it to find out why. It's not like knowing will make you not have to pull it. It's not tough stuff up there, easy to fix when you find it.

I bet it won't leak if you park on a hill, rear up, so the tank is higher than the valve cover.

Thanks, I guess I was just afraid of what I might find up there after I drop the tank.
