front drive shaft rattling sounds.

I have a 92 yj.I have been hearing a grinding/rattle from under my jeep.when up under the jeep.I can grab the drive shaft and it has alittle pay in it.while driving down the road I can hear the rattle very well.but when I 4 wheel drive its not as loud.what is it and how can I fix it?thx

Check the clearance between the driveshaft and exhaust pipe. If you removed your front track bar, could be that when you accelerate, the engine mount flex combined with driveline torque bring the shaft and down-pipe together, causing a rattle. Could be less noise or more noise when in 4WD. That's been my experience anyway.

I greased the front drive shift and sound is still there.I also checked the fluid level in transfer case.I had to add fluid.sound is still there.what now?

And why does my front drive shaft spin in 2wd?
