Rebuild at 148k? Do you think it's necessary Jeremy? I dont eveb see a reason to pull the head IMO. Pull the valve cover and clean it up. Do a compression test. It takes you 10 minutes. If the valves and pistons all test good then leave it
Totally agree with this statement.
If it fails compression pull of the head, check for scoring or bad valves and then buy parts if the motor is salvageable.

It would be killing me to have an engine on a stand in my shop and all of those new parts just sitting there waiting to be installed...she would have been completely torn down and rebuilt. Que is right on the money as far as necessity goes but you are soooo close to a complete build it would be hard for me to resist.

You meet poor folk like me or run into guys that own some of the big companies you only aspire to order from and drool when you see their products.
