Fresh Air Vents, there IS one on the Driver's side, and one question.

It's behind the speedo, up under the dash. I tried to take pics, but, they didn't turn out too well with the cramped quarters. The flap only opens about an inch, not much at all. This is one of two reasons why we don't feel the air much, two being all the wiring, steering column, and peddle linkage that's between it and our feet. Mine as an additional problem, it has the A/C unit motor housing almost totally blocking the air from reaching my feet!! I will try to get a pic with the vent open, and one with the vent closed to show the difference. Hope this eliminates the mystery surrounding this vent. Oh, and the cable from the vent controls goes to this driver's side vent, then, another cable goes from that, across the top of the dash, to the passenger side vent, so, they are connected. If the passenger side vent is open, so is the driver's side.

One quick question in regards to the vent controls, is there a cap that's supposed to go on top of the cable when it's on the plastic pin? Mine won't stay on, just keeps popping off the plastic pin. Thanks!

Jerry

thanks for the documentation of this vent. i always knew there was a vent on the drivers side... but so little air comes out i started to doubt its existence. mine too is blocked by the a/c and such.

it would be nice to get the vent to push air out like it does on the passenger side.

a/c in a Wrangler? Isn't that why the doors are removable?

Since we don't have factory air (beyond taking the top off), the driver's side vent on ours works fairly well. Not as strong as the passenger's side, but you definitely feel the air moving.

The YJ's without the A/C unit would definitely feel more air through that driver's side vent!! I'm not sure how to improve on the airflow through that vent, aside from being able to close the passenger side vent, thus pushing all of the incoming air to the driver's side. The driver's side vent doesn't open very much, and doesn't have much intake capacity as the passenger side vent. Anyone have ideas?

I tried to get pics of this vent, impossible with the A/C blower in the way. I can't get a good enough focused image to tell what you're looking at. Can someone with a non-A/C YJ get some pics of this thing? Thanks!

I am thinking of putting kick panels in such as an FJ40 has. I have about 10 fjs laying around to look at will probably work better than the vent lol.
