Agreed. But like I said. Rampage only makes it for the YJ with half doors.

Flame shields up, I mean no disrespect. I was under the impression that the difference between tj and yj soft tops lie in the bow configuration. How the bows and frames are designed, and how the fabric attaches to the bows. Aren't yj's and tj's essentially the same dimensions? I know there has to be a difference, but as long as the yj has the full family bars I don't see why one would not work on the other aside from the mounting method above the windshield.

The other big difference is between the stock soft uppers on the half doors. The stock YJ uppers have a square corner and the stock TJ uppers have a rounded corner. The Bestop Super top replaces the soft uppers for the YJ and has the rounded corners. So, if you get a Softopper, you need to modify the TJ uppers to work on your YJ half doors or already have a Super top.

The other other big difference is that the TJ comes with 'built in' (sort of) one piece door surrounds, while the YJ's door surrounds are part of the front soft top hoop. Take the soft top and hoops off a TJ, the surrounds are still there. Take the soft top and hoops off a YJ and surrounds are gone. This makes implementing any YJ soft top a bigger project.

YJ door surrounds... part of the soft top hoop assembly.

ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

gotcha I thought you meant where the tj door surrounds mounted...

JP did an article that put a TJ top on a YJ, but swapped in the TJ roll bar too. Maybe if you did the TJ roll bar swap you could run a rampage frameless on a yj?

sounds like you have a supertop... easier to put up and down than the stock yj top imo

this kinda sorts out which top is what

Nice link. Yeah both tops were super tops with the bestop frame. I think the Bestop frame sucks, that oem frame looks god awful.

I may try and sell this super top in the spring and go frameless. I have conflicting ideas on what I want. Cheap and good quality are hard to combine lol

Bringing this back from the dead as im debating going frameless after my weekend in moab.... Any companies came out with one for full steel doors in the last year? If not ill just run my hard top through winter and buy the softtopper in spring i think.

I like my YJ how I like my whiskey, on the rocks with just a touch of color!

Softtopper and Bestop Supertop are your only options for a soft top that works with full hard doors.
