Love it. Don't really notice it on pavement. Once in awhile you'll get the 'click/bang', but ya get used to it. It is an auto locker. However, not so good on ice or snow, but we don't get much of that around here. Most all my wheel'n is in summer. If u can afford an ARB, IMO that is more better... but for simplicity/cost/toughness, it's hard to beat a Detroit.

does the vin of the vehicle tell me what the gearing will b? er is there a mark on the axle? cuz i found a wrecked 2000 explorer a guy is parting out

There will be a tag bolted to the diff cove and the door jam will have a sticker with the axle code. Options are not part of the VIN.
