Fluid for NP231

What fluid should I be running in my NP231? I havent checked that thing in forever, and now with it leaking at the output I'm ready to open her up and fix the seal and wondering what fluid i need for it.

95YJ 2.5 AX5 NP231 HP30 4.88 and aussie, 8.8 4.88 mini spool, 4" RC, 1.5" Boom shackles, 1" BL, 1" rear stretch, 36 12.5 15 TSL SX's, trimmed front fenders, bedlined exterior, comp cut coming soon!

ok, well the stuff leaking out smells just like gear oil, lol so is that bad??

I use ATF, Dexron Mercon III
