Iam starting to buld a flipped np231 into a flipped Dana300. I got some pics and will be posting them soon.
The goal is to keep the cost down by doing a lot of the work myself
Hopefully I can get the setup unto the jeep by the end of march

For the plug I used a 7/16" drill and a 1/4" npt tap.

I also removed the old oil seal.

Next step is to check the input gear, Bering and seal removal

Sort I have no pics of this but I took off the snapring. Then slid off bearing out of the case. Then with a press pushed the bearing off the input shaft. Then I cleaned the case removed the seal. Next step was to reinstall the parts without the seal.

My new seals came in today. But instead of getting 1input and 2 outputs. I got 2 inputs and 1 output. I will have to contact morris 4/4 and get a new output sent to me. I will put the good seals in. Then I will try to get a 1/2 npt tap and drill bit for the old shift rails.

Looks like its coming along well.

I have lots of friends who run the D300 with a crawl box (4:1) in there YJ's. I've driven a few of them. Some were flipped while others were not due to front passenger side drop axle swaps. I liked the reduction they provide.

Joe thanks for your support . Right now I am not planning on the 4/1 but maybe later. Just stock gears in the Dana and np231.
