First year of fuel injection

I know around 91 or 92 fuel injection came into the 6 cylinders. 4.0L is 6 cyl fuel injected right? What year did they start to use fuel injection? I've seen this somewhere but I cant find it now, and yea I searched and checked the jeep wiki

1991 was the first year for the 4.0L MPFI engine in the YJ. 1987-1990 is the carb'd 4.2L.

Well, no matter how much we'uns with some modicum of common sense tell these folks to look in the FAQ's, use the search tool, look around on the first page of threads, what have you, no matter how much we try to help 'em to help themselves, you KNOW somebody's gonna come on and just answer the question...and they'll go on not being able to figure out how to answer their own questions! Like another thread on here that asked us what size wrench to use on a fitting! And what size fasteners to use instead of figuring it out their own selves!

Sheesh...watch...somebody's gonna come on a flame me because I don't have the right attitude, isn't this forum here to help others, yadayadayada...

Yep, Timatoe...you, sir, are absolutely correctamundo!!!

bull ****, it is the second damn paragraph under the YJ section. not to mention that "fuel injected" is is a hyperlink and highlighted in blue, along with the words "AMC 252", "ACM 242", and "straight-6".

Quote:
The YJ used a 2.5 L AMC 150 I4 or optional 4.2 L AMC 258 I6 until 1991. That year, a fuel injected 180 hp (134 kW) 4.0 L AMC 242 variant replaced the 112 hp (84 kW) 4.2 L straight-6. The NP207 transfer case was used only in 1987 and replaced by the NP231
