FI Cherokee motor in a 87 Wrangler???

Can you put a Newer Cherokee motor in a 87 Wrangler. I am looking for a good alternative to putting a Fuel injected motor in my 87 with out the whole aftermarket kit I've been told a newer cherokee wont work without a bunch of modifications? Will a chevy venture type v6 go in a wrangler 87-91? Help what are my options please?

unfortunately, nothing will be a direct bolt-in "plug n play" situation.... on the plus side, that leaves you open to a whole world of possibilities, all which are about the same amount of work, time & $$

4.0 Jeep
4.3 GM V6
GM V8
Ford, mopar, toyota, cummins, etc

I have just heard the newer cherokee motors stick up to high as far as the power steering, alternator etc.. what would be the best Fuel injected motor to put in my 87 wrangler?

The 91-95 4.0L mpfi would be the easiest and cheapest. Plent of them around and 5 wires to fire on the harness swap. If you are lucky enough to find one with the entire drivetrain then you are only looking at moving your mounts.
