Few Questions on Spring Over
Just got the big paycheck I've been waiting for! A few questions...Will it be cheaper to do a spring-over or a 4.5" suspension lift...or I am also considering a 3" Rough Country lift with 2" shackles. What do ya'll think??? How do the numbers add up? I've heard some things from some people about the spring over, after you buy the kit and do it, you realize you need this, and this , and this , and etc and it adds up to ALOT. I'm trying to keep everything under about $1000 for lift and tires...Are any of the choices I've mentioned up there able to be done for around $300-400? How expensive is a spring over? How expensive is the 4.5 RE? I know the RC 3" is 389, right. I've found tires for $110 a piece and wheels for $40 a piece. Does anyone have any picturees of a YJ with the 3" Rough Country lift and shackle lift with 33"s??? If so may i see them? I'm thinking this is going to be the most practicle lift for me since it is inexpensive and I will be doing lots of on road driving with only occasional weekend wheeling, but I still love the look of a big YJ! Thanks again for the help, yall are awesome.
John

Forget the shackle lift. Any lift above 3" is probably gong to require a SYE and CV driveshaft. Those two items are gonna run you $500-600. Either do the SOA, but do your homework first so you have everything you need, or the RE4.5"ED.
Don't go cheap, or you're gonna wind up spending money again for what you should have done to begin with, even if you have to wait for the lift. Trails were much more challenging when my rig was stock, now I just idle up them it seems like, kind of taken some of the fun out of it. Of course now I can take a shot at the more hardcore obstacles, and trails. Ran the Rubicon last summer, doing the Dusy this summer, yeehhaaa.
