family cage vs sport cage
i understand that the family cage provides more protection for anyone in the back seat, but is that the only advantage? or the family cages stronger? am i the only person that prefers the looks of the sport cage? just wondering

I personally like the family cage better myself, but I do have the sport cage in mine.

It really just depends on personal preference and if you have passengers in the back.

I'm loooking at adding one. not only covers overhead it provides perches for shoulder belts in the back seat vs lap belts

I like the look of the sport cage better. If i get in a spot where the people in the back could get hurt, i just make them get out.

I think the actual main purpose of the 'family' cage is to provide support for shoulder belts, so in that sense it is a bit safer. I doubt there is much difference in roll protection between the two.

I also have a Family style cage, but I do like the look of a Sport cage better, I'm willing to trade if anyone is around CT area.

I had the sport bar in my 91, bought and installed a family cage. Around here everybody wants family cages, I can't even give my sport bar away, so it is still laying in the back yard.

I'm also willing to trade my sport for a family cage. I have 3 little ones (of course only 2 will fit in the back) and would like to have the extra comfort of a shoulder belt in the back. I liked my sport cage when I was younger, but since I am a family man now, likes change.

I love my sport bar. Who uses their backseat anyway!!!
The Family cage does look good though. and there are many companies who make add ons for it. When I have a kid, Im sure i will make some protection in the back for him/her.

I'm a TJ owner, and I still freely admit that I still lust longingly after sport cages. They just look so much better, more bad-***, and more...Jeep. If you don't have kids in the back, then there's really no need. My back seat has been sitting in the garage ever since I took it out. Hasn't been back in. I really have no need of the family bars. One day I may go ahead and cut my own cage. We'll see.

I like the sport cage too, swapped family cage for it. My backseat's been sitting in my garage for about 6 years.
