I sure hope it's front and rear.
The axle ratio's have to be the same front and rear, or you would grenade the T-case. There are mud boggers that run different ratio's, but they are specialized just for the mud.
My 91 YJ Sahara came with 3.55's. Call your local Jeep dealer with the VIN number, or there should be a tag on the rear diff held on by two of the cover bolts with the info on it.

you may have either 307 or 355. the 355 was an option. most likly you have 307's. and yes it may be different in the front. this is to make the jeep pull more in the front. something like 305 and 307. if there is no tag, just lift the jeep spin the tires onece and see if the driveshaft goes 3 or 3 1/2 times. if its 3
, than you have 307, and the other will be the 355

As a general rule, you can have 1% difference between axle ratio's. I was trying to eliminate any confusion about having 3.07's front, 3.55's rear. If you want to split hairs they can be different front to rear.

While I had my '92 4.0L on the rack a couple of weekends ago, I spun a tire and confirmed what I suspected, 3.07 (driveline went around approx 3 times for one spin of the tire).
